Silent Hill. A couple of weeks ago, I dreamed I was cycling the Tour de Puke event. Except it was a mixture of Percy Warner Park and the neighborhood I grew up in. The streets were twice as wide, trees like Red Woods. My Dad was behind me as a support vehicle. At the top of one climb was a rest stop. There was a cozy-looking cabin with gentle smoke rising from the chimney. A very serene scene. The ride organizer invited everyone to stop and have a cup of coffee, a very unorthodox beverage at a cycling event. I did not want to stop because my goal was to win the race this year. I didn't need a break.

I rounded the turn to what would be a view of the river. The scene transitioned, as I reached into my backpack to grab a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a cyclist's favorite during the long rides. It changed to cycling into an opened-up view of an unfamiliar house. I cycled through the living room, kitchen and down a hallway.

The scene quickly changed once again, into a crossroads area. It was a roundabout in a cramped French-style city. There were 3 streets extending from the roundabout. There were dirty street signs and graffiti on walls. The atmosphere quickly got darker and shifted to a dark orange hue, much like the game Silent Hill. It felt like the same thing was going on. I knew I had to get indoors fast. I climbed a ledge and opened a Venetian-style door.

I was now in a projection booth above a movie theater. The closet was cramped and was lit by a small lamp. On a box was an old book that had been rebound. I read an extremely disturbing passage, "This is what hell is really like." The book also described that "the underground" was being destroyed by the upper world. I wasn't sure what it meant, but I realized I was underground and that there was a real upper world which was the world of the living and that their excavations and exploring were going to cross that line and destroy the peace of the underground. Then the dream ended.

INTERPRETATION:
In real life, I'm looking forward to a real event called Tour de Puke. It's a metric-century (62 mile) bike ride open to a select few who are invited. It is within a park with very hilly landscape, over 5,000 feet of total elevation. Last year I placed third. This year I'm looking to win, which is reflected in my not stopping for a break in the dream. Dad has been sag support during 2 of my centuries, also reflected in the dream. The big trees and wide streets perhaps symbolize bigger goals: winning TdP and taking on Six Gap this fall.
The transition from the race through the house to the Silent Hill-like world has a fairly simple meaning. When I'm not on my bike, working, working out, or studying, I'm usually a cave-dwelling ginger at home, pondering various possibilities of my life, traveling through various rooms of thought. But with that comes many negatives...
Going to a roundabout, a crossroads with three streets, symbolizes decisions. Three physical goals of mine are a TdP win, top 5% finish at Tough Mudder and completing Six Gap. But the three roads could also symbolize something else. Deciding a new job, a different school program or a new place to live. Either way, it's a roundabout, circling endlessly until I make a decision.
The scene gets darker, many Silent Hill symbols come into play, the darkness, the rusty-hue, the feeling of impending doom. Perhaps diverting to a small place in the projection booth means that I forget about the roads-my decisions, which currently seem dark and foggy, and move to a place of comfort. Yet while in this place of comfort, I realize that no progress is being made. The passage in the book, "This is what hell is really like", is how I feel about such indecision, such agnosticism towards many things, and repeating the same routines.
Perhaps the part about the upper world means my conscious life, the underground being the subconscious past. I can't explain this phenomena, but lately I've been having strong memories of my past that arise randomly. Maybe it's my diet and exercise having a positive effect on the connections of my brain. They are memories I had forgotten of places or events from my childhood, feelings that were strong back then about life in general, and other random events more recent. 'Nostalgia' comes from the Greek word 'nóstos', meaning 'homecoming' and 'álgos', meaning 'pain'. Nostalgia has historically been viewed as a medical or psychological condition, triggered by various smells, sights, music, locations, etc. The power of the past pulls many sufferers of nostalgia back to more comfortable times, avoiding the gloom and fog of an unforeseen future.
Maybe the digging into the underground is me tapping into things I should not be dwelling on or thinking about at all.. Disturbing the peace of the underground, the dead, the past. The past should stay dead. The past can be both a comfort like serene landscapes of a home town, but also can be a nightmarish transition to the 'otherworld', reflections of past failure, fear and pessimism. The dream is a reminder to decide on something and stick to it. I completed 3 State 3 Mountain with flying colors. There's no reason I can't do whatever I put my mind to and do what I can right now, so that the fog dissipates and the streets become clearer.

It was either by satellite or by helicopter. I don't remember. The mountains were dark orange colored by the fading sunlight, almost like Morder from Lord of the Rings. I was going to map out a cycling route, viewing from the sky. My plans quickly changed as I realized I was parachuting down from the sky towards the mountain.
There appeared a long bridge connecting two of the mountains. Three soldiers were walking across. I targeted them with an advanced targeting system on my headpiece and missiles rained from the sky and took them out! I landed on the ground. The mountainous corridors were complex and jagged, but I swiftly made my way into a complex in the mountain. People were running around in a panic. I was searching for a certain person-of-interest. They weren't a target, but someone I had to capture. I ran through a commercial kitchen area, through a locker room area and long hallways but the person-of-interest eluded me. Still, I ran through there like a tornado, conquering like a man on a mission. Much of the detail in this dream faded.
Search:
To dream that you are searching for something signifies the need to find something that is missing or needed in your life. The dream may be analogous to your search for love, spiritual enlightenment, peace or even a solution to a problem.

INTERPRETATION:

I went cycling yesterday. We went on a really fun new route that the ride leader organized. He mentioned mapping it on mapquest. Perhaps my initial planning of a ride is a reflection of that. Oh yeah.. And I have 3 State 3 Mountain (100 mile bike ride in Chattanooga) in less than two weeks.

I believe the mountains do represent challenges in my life. The fact that I was swooping in on the mountain signifies my unorthodox way of approaching things. Whatever I'm doing is working. This militaristic style is perhaps reminiscent of a former waking dream I had of becoming a Pararescue Jumper. The targets on the mountain represent obligations, things I am knocking out one at a time in my life, or in this case, many at once. It's true. Not only have I had 3 exams this week, I have 3 next week including finals and 3 State 3 Mountain immediately that weekend. Multiple targets indeed.

The search for the person-of-interest could be anything. A final objective to complete before I can relax. Or perhaps its figuring out the mystery of the 'near death experience', a topic I recently became interested in. The answer still eludes me. I felt strong and fast in this dream, fearless, and able to conquer whatever was in front of me. Truly, I feel on top of things in my waking life. But I can't relax yet. So much left to do before the end of the semester and 3 State 3 Mountain.
Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-29995597959497793822011-11-18T16:47:00.007-06:002011-11-21T13:48:30.388-06:00Snarling WolvesAfter cycling for awhile down a trail, I jumped into a river and onto a makeshift raft. Suddenly I was time-warped to the 1400s. It was dark. On the other side of the narrow river were rocky cliffs. I passed by a witches ugly green face with lifeless white eyes that was coming towards me in the water. I continued on, not heeding it.

Around the bend, a wolf snarled from the rocky shore. Knowing my food supply was limited, I waited in waist-deep water for the wolf. Though even late at night, early in the morning, there was lots of traffic on a curvy 2-lane road. I don't know where I was going but I went off the road and found a basketball. I dribbled it but kept losing it. Across the road, I saw the house it belonged to. It was a small house with a shed and a nice basketball court. I was going to play on the court but decided not to and left the ball in their yard.

I continued along the road and started to get really hungry. I came to a split. I was now in a more suburban area. One way went to a neighborhood, the other had a sign that said, "to cliffs". I headed that way. The road went up. I made my way to a small shopping center that had a tiny gas-station like store. That was the only place that was open. I intended to buy a bunch of snacks to hold me over til morning.

Then I woke up hungry.

Symbols

Traffic:
To see traffic in your dream, indicates the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Sometimes you feel like you are just going with the flow. Things have become too routine.

Basketball:
To dream that you are playing basketball, indicates teamwork and cooperation. There is a situation in your waking life where you will need the cooperation and assistance of others in order to achieve a common goal. Perhaps you are standing in the way of your own progress and need to ask for help. To see a basketball in your dream, suggests that you need to make the first move. You also need to concentrate and focus on your goals.

Road Sign:
To see road signs in your dream, represent some advice and message that your unconscious is trying to convey. The road sign may be trying to guide you toward certain decisions. Consider what the road sign is saying and how you need to apply its message to an aspect of your daily life.

Cliff:
To dream that you are climbing to the top of a cliff symbolizes your ambition and drive. The dream may parallel your desires to achieve success and to be the at the top of your profession.

Hungry:
To dream that you are hungry, signifies a feeling of unfulfillment in some area of your life. You may be starving for love, recognition, power, sex, wealth, or fame. You are longing to achieve something that you have desired for awhile. Alternatively, the dream may simply be that you are really feeling hungry and it is being manifested in your dream.

INTERPRETATION:

The fact that I deviated from road (traffic, the flow of every-day life) and discovered a basketball (team sport) I think means I stray from the norm and like to do things on my own. Though after awhile I can't grasp it, like how I kept dropping the ball. So I placed the ball in an empty yard, as if I'm wanting to ask for help but I'm not quite asking.

My dream came to a decision-point. The neighborhood, which I think meant to settle down and find a place to rest, or the cliffs, to continue on to greater heights, to my own ambition, my hunger to accomplish more. I chose the cliffs. Though hungry, maybe overwhelmed in real life, I still know how to find sustenance and when to stop and eat (pacing myself).
Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-36274329900289937082011-03-24T10:32:00.007-05:002011-11-21T13:51:57.659-06:00Don't HesitateLast night I had a massive cluster of dreams that I wish I could fully remember.. but they all seemed to have a common theme of overcoming obstacles. I dreamed about obstacle courses and a freezing river. There was an obstacle with cargo netting that you had to climb, followed by running through a creek with turtles. There was another obstacle with a ladder leaning freely on a rope suspended across 2 poles that you had to climb over and prevent from flipping. There were lots of eager, but tired athletes trying to get past the obstacles. Further down, the group of people thinned out and I stand before a freezing cold and muddy river with my team. They were neither an elite group of athletes nor hesitant beginners. Just as I was about to dive in, my team dives in with no hesitation. I immediately dive in and down pretty far. It felt like a long time had passed before I surfaced and then swam across. I exited the water and ran down a road to catch up with the team.

Symbols

Obstacle Course:
To dream that you are going through an obstacle course, symbolizes the hardships and difficulties that you are experiencing in your waking life. With time and patience, you will make steady progress.

River:
If you are crossing a river in your dream, then it represents an obstacle or issue that you need to deal with in order to move closer toward your goal. It is also reflective of a new stage in your life. If the river is muddy, then it indicates that you are in turmoil.

INTERPRETATION:
I would dive into some of the symbols and what they mean but I already know why I dreamed of such things. A couple of weeks ago I completed an event called Tough Mudder. It's a 12 mile obstacle course with mountains, freezing cold water, tunnels, fire, climbing, crawling, plunging, and running through a field of live wire. It ranked up there with my first Century ride as one of the most mentally and physically challenging events of my life.. but it was so much fun at the same time. After completing it, I experienced a great sense of accomplishment and gained a lot of confidence. I am now planning on running my first marathon in Atlanta in October and Tough Mudder again in Florida in December.

The dreams I had are reflections of the obstacles and cold, muddy water I encountered. And perhaps it's an unconscious night school that is preparing me for the next century ride, marathon and Tough Mudder. The turtles in the dream, I think are symbols telling me that I should slow it down. Because right now I do have a hip flexor injury and I need to rest and heal but I'm ready to step up my training soon. In the dream, I was surprised and also pumped about the team jumping in before I did. It shows that I long to train with a fearless group that pushes themselves and never hesitates to jump in. And perhaps it shows my lack of hesitance when tackling a huge obstacle. I know that I will be ready for the marathon in October and perhaps a top 5% finish time at Tough Mudder.. and maybe even a chance to compete and complete World's Toughest Mudder.

Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-72281008555481024452011-02-02T13:27:00.005-06:002011-11-21T13:55:26.506-06:00...With These WordsA few years ago, my dad told me about a very powerful dream he had. I asked him to tell it to me again so that I could share it. Read it below. Comfort one another with these words...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This dream I am about to describe is very special to me because it came after wondering (and fretting) if God would forget me if I died and my body turned to dust. As you know, I believe when a person dies, his body returns to dust and his spirit returns to God (Ecclesiastes 12:7, Psalm 104:29). There are many verses that state that a man’s thoughts perish (Psalm 146:4) at that point and they are not conscious until Jesus return. That person is “asleep” until that great day (John 11:11-45). Our hope is in the resurrection not in dying and going to our reward immediately. Years can pass, but this sleep is like a second to those who wait for his return.

This “fretting” came during a time when I had trouble sleeping. It was after my heart attack and my heart had a funny rhythm that would often wake me up with a shortness of breath. I quickly learned to give my fears up to God and I would fall back asleep, but I would think, “Lord, there have been billions of people who have died over the last 6 or 7 thousand years, will you forget me when you come?”

One night, I dreamed and saw my funeral and people standing around, this part of the dream was very quick, because the next thing I experienced was two angels, very playfully and with joy, helping me out of my grave. They seemed to be like two little children who have been anticipating a long trip with their family and everything around them is exciting. At first they are talking to each other, but as I awake, their attention turns to me. As I look up at them, I can’t see them too well, but I feel like I have known them for a very long time. The sky is lit up with brightness, and although I can’t see him, I know Jesus is just beyond the horizon. As I come up, the angels say, “See we didn’t forget you!.” My dream ends abruptly right there and I awake feeling happy and encouraged. Since that time, I have never worried about God forgetting me."

Job 19:26
26And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness

I Thessalonians 4: 13-18
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-33268590515117858152011-01-20T17:21:00.006-06:002011-01-26T16:40:19.992-06:00For It Is Dreamed, So It Shall SnowI wish I had remembered more of my dreams last night. I'm not sure where I was exactly but I was outside. And it was raining.. then it turned to sleet and finally snow. The snowfall got more and more intense. That's all I remember. I usually don't post short fragments of a dream I barely remember... but today it snowed.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 520px; height: 380px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIOORBhLrONHcxuilcNorj_ReSsxwkQNnoT2d3QSOrumtXpn0vihOlK8X6LL2P1-J23fzF4FAB6ZJX-hbzhFWTVMBcrLxdGGgbT8L9Hk0q1KGBdBsLo7_BapMODctWff7wx3DmATijv3U5/s320/Snowy+Field.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564416893184865682" />

Today I heard that we had snow on the forecast. I had read about prophetic dreams before. There are many theories, one being that your subconscious mind is really good at piecing together information to predict an outcome. I'm not convinced that prophetic dreams tell the future but they are interesting. I'm not sure if my dream was foretelling of the weather today or if I dreamed about it snowing because I wanted it to snow. Either way, it will be pretty sweet if classes are cancelled tomorrow.

Here's what dreammoods.com says about prophetic dreams...

Prophetic Dreams
In a prophetic dream, you see the future through your dream. It is difficult to determine that a dream is prophetic because we can only confirm such a dream after it has taken place. Even then, we only hear of the success stories. There are so many other dreams that do not come true. Thus, prophetic dream may just be mere coincidences.

In the science world, it is believed that psychic powers do not exist. Scientists rationalize that dreams that seemingly come true may actually be a suggestion or guide for you to follow, thus making it seem as if the dream is coming true. You are willing it to be true. Another argument is that you may have a tendency to self-edit your dream to match the outcome. Because dreams are so easily forgotten, your memory of the dream may not be accurate. Yet another theory is that your dreaming mind is able to piece together bits of information faster that your conscious mind. Your mind is able to see what will happen based on information that it has already collected.

Still, there are believers that dreams can indeed predict or foretell the future. Prophetic dreams are linked to major disasters, wars, assassinations, accidents, lottery numbers or even with winning horse races. Such dreams have helped solve crimes. In history, Abraham Lincoln was said to have dreamt of his own body laying in a coffin two weeks before his assassination. British engineer, John Dunne dreamt of the eruption of a volcano in France which came true.

Having a prophetic dream suggests that you are experiencing anxiety and that you are expressing a desire for certainty in the future. You are looking to your dream to help you make an important decision or to reassure you that you are on the right path.

More Info:
Types of Prophetic DreamsOspreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-30557403762234544732011-01-17T17:50:00.006-06:002011-01-26T16:38:33.930-06:00Fight Off Your DemonsLast night I dreamed I was with my friend Kim on a rooftop, picking off zombies that were coming out of the woodwork on the ground. That darn dreaded zombie apocalypse. My vision switched to a videogame-like view as I sprayed the soulless flesh eaters from above with explosive rounds. After the lot was clear, I turned around and saw Kim entering the building alone as if she was fearless. Who knows what lurked inside? I was scared for either of us going in alone. So I rushed in. Everything seemed clear, quiet. The inside of this building looked a lot like my cousins old house, except it had 3 floors. Kim was nowhere to be found. So I went to the first floor. Kim appeared at the top looking down from the balcony, just fine, as if she had taken out all of the zombies on her own.

Symbols

Rooftop:
To see a roof in your dream, symbolizes a barrier between two states of consciousness. You are protecting or sheltering your consciousness, mentality, and beliefs. The dream provides an overview of how you see yourself and who you think you are. To dream that you are on top of a roof, symbolizes boundless success.

Zombie:
To dream that you are attacked by zombies, indicate that you are feeling overwhelmed by forces beyond your control. You are under tremendous stress in your waking life. Alternatively, the dream represents your fears of being helpless and overpowered.

Shooting:
To dream that you shoot a person with a gun, denotes your aggressive feelings and hidden anger toward that particular person. If the person you shoot is a stranger, then it indicates that you are rejecting unknown aspects of yourself that you do not understand.

House:
To see a house in your dream, represents your own soul and self. Specific rooms in the house indicate a specific aspect of your psyche. In general, the attic represents your intellect, the basement represents the unconscious, etc. If the house is empty, then it indicates feelings of insecurity.

INTERPRETATION:
This dream contains really vivid imagery, handpicked and manipulated by my subconscious from events within the past two days to remind me of something. No.. I haven't REALLY been killing zombies lately.

Last night Kim invited me to her church. I had came the night before but I just felt emotionless and a bit awkward. Some things were weighing me down. I was stuck somewhere inside. But last night was better. Very cool, real people around my age make up this church. It was more comfortable. And the pastor spoke of exactly what I needed to hear. The music that was played reminded me of Explosions in the Sky, Damien Rice, and a few other awesome combinations. It really set the mood and the church was very meditative in nature. He spoke of fighting our demons, moving towards just simply allowing God to heal us, our insecurities, fears, pain, etc. and learning to forgive and love everyone. Another thing I loved about the pastor was his emphasis on the fight and brutality of love, what many churches fail to mention. How fucking hard it is to forgive someone who has wrecked you. How hard it is to even love that person. It's easy to just say "fuck em." But it was a reminder that we're being called to forgive and we have to try and fight the demons that are saying the opposite. My demons have told me that it would be all better to just forget about them and erase them from my life.

The zombies in the dream represent our demons. They were everywhere and were bent on destroying us. I went to my cousins house, which may also have something to do with the house, but it definitely has to do with the videogame-style killing in the dream.. Because we stayed up til 5:30 this morning playing Modern Warfare 2. The last level we played was one of shooting from above in a helo. Kim entered on her own, which makes me think that she's actually stronger and more fearless than I think she really is. Or maybe it's that I'm more scared of my own demons than she is of hers.

The 3 levels of the house may be a symbol of the Holy Trinity, clear of any demons, failure, and hurt. A safe house. It's there for anyone to walk in, as soon as we get over our fearful uncertainty. Maybe it symbolizes the church. I wanna start going more. I had a good experience in that place. It feels like home. This dream was reiterating things said last night and saying that I'm not alone in this fight.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-55938741861643626032011-01-13T01:05:00.005-06:002011-01-31T20:16:31.241-06:00Sitting Korean DucksLast night I dreamed that someone was stealing Kim Jong-il's ducks from his private pond. Whoever it was, said they were worth more money. He was tranquilizing and taking them. This dream is so out there that I don't know where to begin to interpret this one. I haven't seen or heard about Kim Jong-il in a long time, so there's no explanation there. This is so weird and random.. and pretty funny.

Maybe he represents dangerous power. And the ducks represent vulnerability i.e. sitting ducks. Who do I know who is in a position of power, yet vulnerable and could possibly lose it all? ...

Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-36798551107577941552011-01-03T00:44:00.001-06:002011-01-26T16:28:56.529-06:00Let Sleeping T-Rex LieA few weeks ago I dreamed that I was in a large facility that felt like a school. I stumbled into a pool area where on the ground lay an unconscious Tyrannosaurus Rex! It had been captured and was sedated next to the empty pool. I ran down the hall to be far away from it whenever it woke up. A few people I recognized from work rounded the corner. I warned them not to go that way because there was a T-Rex. They ignored my warning and ran down the hall. I held my breath and waited to hear a roar and screaming. But I woke up before that happened.

Symbols

Dinosaur:
To see a dinosaur in your dream, symbolizes an outdated attitude. You may need to discard your old ways of thinking and habits. To dream that you are being chased by a dinosaur, indicates your fears of no longer being needed or useful. Alternatively, being chased by a dinosaur, may reflect old issues that are still coming back to haunt you.

Tyrannosaurus Rex:
To see tyrannosaurus rex in your dream, symbolizes your biggest fears. Alternatively, the dream means that you are behaving and acting tyrannical. You may be tearing people down and belittling them in some way.

Swimming Pool:
To see an empty swimming pool in your dream, suggests that you are literally feeling empty and devoid of emotions.

Warning:
To dream that you are warning someone, suggests that you need to recognize the dangers or negatives of some situation. You need to bring this to the surface.

INTERPRETATION:
When I had this dream, I was playing a lot of the Playstation game Dino Crisis. And there were a couple of times in the game where the T-Rex was rendered unconscious.

Maybe the T-Rex symbolizes imminent danger and my worst fears and that I have a very good intuition about some situations. The people ignoring my warning in the dream indicates that I fear that my words don't hold much weight, or people will do what they want regardless of my strong advice, or... well.. curiosity got the cat eaten by a T-Rex.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-37949645998285493392011-01-01T15:51:00.013-06:002011-01-26T16:26:47.820-06:00Face Your FearsI dreamed I was in an elevator somewhere in a building on the UT campus. The elevator was on the outside of the building and made of glass. The elevator was rising slowly and I could see below me and my surroundings. Someone was standing quietly behind me. I didn't look back but I got a sense of who it was. I just stared towards the ground. I wasn't sure how high the building was but it kept rising.. faster and faster. I could see people's faces looking up at me from the ground start to blur. Fear started to sink in at the thought of the elevator breaking and falling towards the ground. That sinking feeling in my stomach took over. And at that point, I realized I was dreaming. I convinced myself that nothing was going to go wrong. These things are built to be strong. I concentrated on the elevator and just being. And I took control of gravity and the elevator. It slowed down and stopped somewhere up high. That's all I remember.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 520px; height: 440px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtSKxU8UZJQLy5BLeA97e16kMDDbNvJxnPKRhyRuLjdTJYgN9LGJWyTVuzx-o79xygOwCwqxoD1rS3QFrzZ8nlSZrWjeltcFMJMaWvU4Qtu1XNygH6qfDYWqctK6wwkWCVsYdTVIoSaDkR/s320/Elevator.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557354118907279490" />

Symbols

Elevator:
To dream that you are ascending in an elevator, represents a rise to status and wealth. You may have risen to a higher level of consciousness and are looking at the world from an elevated viewpoint. If the elevator is moving upward in an out of control fashion or it crashes through the roof, then it indicates that you are being catapulted to a position of power in which you do not yet know how to deal with. You are afraid of the new responsibilities ahead for you.
In general, the up and down action of the elevator represents the ups and downs of your life. It also symbolizes emotions and thoughts that are emerging out of and submerging into your subconscious.

Heights:
To dream that you are at a great height, signifies that you have reached one of your highest goals or objectives.
To dream that you are afraid of heights, denotes that you are striving for goals that seem beyond your reach.

Glass:
To see glass in your dream, symbolizes passivity or protection. You may be putting up an invisible barrier to protect yourself in a situation or relationship.
To dream that you are looking through glass, represents your openness and non-defensiveness. Alternatively, you may be putting up an invisible emotional barrier around yourself.

Falling Dreams
Lucid Dreams

INTERPRETATION:
I find it incredible that I remembered a dream the first day of 2011. And a dream at the brink of being lucid, nonetheless. The dream took place on the UT campus. My sister and brother-in-law went there, my ex goes there, and a few friends I know go there. It's a strong symbol to me but not significant to the overall meaning of the dream. I was so scared of something going wrong with the elevator. I've had dreams of falling and other borderline lucid dreams where I came to realize I was dreaming and could control some things.

"I stared over the edge, seeing the street below. My legs felt like jello. That weak legged feeling you get when you're up high. I realized I was dreaming. Then I challenged myself. What if I tried to overcome my fear and just jump off of this building? Question this 'reality' and surrender to gravity and imminent death. I geared myself up to do it. Looking down, still with the jello legs, I jumped."

I fell asleep last night alone on New Years, reflecting on things I shouldn't have. And a dumb fear set in about being alone forever. Alcohol and loneliness don't mix. And I feel that the dream was trying to tell me that things can get out of control and come crashing back to earth.. but you always have a choice. I choose to fight to make 2011 the best yet. 2010 began and ended with an emptiness in my heart but for the most part I am extremely grateful to grow and move on from everything and persevere. The glass elevator symbolizes my invisible fortress surrounding my feelings and most intimate thoughts. Last night I also realized more of my weaknesses but also my strength in certain situations and my potential to be a leader. Now it's time to take control like I did in the elevator and face my fears. Man up to my old man to piece this family back together, learn to be content with God's love only, defy generational curses, and realize that I'm not bound to who I was.

♫ I'm falling down
I can't wake up
I cannot hold on
I will not let go ♫Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-77403576134744821312010-12-21T22:56:00.006-06:002011-01-26T16:24:08.129-06:00Pleased to Meet YouA couple of nights ago, I dreamed I snuck into a Chevelle meet and greet. Chevelle is one of my favorite bands and they're a band I've seen the most in concert (about 5 times). It's no wonder my subconscious used them in a beautiful, shameless metaphor. It took place on the 4th story of a new, trendy building in Nashville. I remember sneaking in and falling in line to go into a room to meet them. There was lots of glass in the building. Outside, I saw a bunch of skateboarders.

Symbols

Band:
To see a band or play with a band in your dream, represents a sense of community and belonging. The dream may also be a pun on banding together and need for cooperation/unity.

Deceit:
To dream that you are deceiving someone, suggests that you are lying to yourself that everything is okay when in reality it is not. You are trying to cover up some mistake or some lie. The deceit is manifesting itself into your dream and eating away at your conscious.

Skateboard:
To see or ride a skateboard in your dream, indicates that you have the gift of making any difficult situation look easy. You carry yourself with style, grace and composure in the hardest of situations. Alternatively, the dream signifies your free and fun-loving side.

INTERPRETATION:
I had a really awesome time with a friend that I haven't seen in two years. It couldn't get much better than a perfect 70 degree sunny day on the beach, a long walk, and the best sushi I've ever had. It was awesome.

But later on, I didn't feel quite like myself. It's whenever I'm around a lot of people I don't know. Her friends I just met. It was a cool scene. Not unlike parties I've been to or would throw with my friends. Loud music, alcohol, bonfires, inside jokes, your best friends. Sometimes I can adapt and be myself around people I don't know. Other times, I feel like I shouldn't be there. Like I'm sneaking into the Chevelle meet and greet in my dream. Not supposed to be there, but going anyway to see what happens.

Needless to say, I was being quite introverted around a larger group and I just wanted to spend more time with her or a smaller group. And I guess I wasn't being myself. I didn't really talk much. I felt like an outcast amidst a tight-knit group of central Florida friends. Sometimes I hate being an introvert. Maybe the skateboarders I saw in my dream symbolize my past roots. Who I used to be that I miss sometimes. Maybe I should be out there with them.

I just don't know where I belong. I've become very picky with friends and have a hard time relating to a lot of people. This needs to change. Make me whole.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-15433296791859871982010-12-03T01:48:00.008-06:002011-01-26T16:22:08.720-06:00Laid to RestI dreamed I was aboard a giant military ship in Japan. It was during the day and the ship was docked. Big, loud waves shot water up over the ship and on the deck and created a cold, misty atmosphere. The ship was revealed to be a Japanese ship and I was standing next to the Japanese emperor. US jets flew overhead as if to say, "We got you guys." The emperor conceded and said something about the US military being strong. We walked off the ship and onto the dock. The dock was just a large concrete platform that was attached to a brand new building under construction. There was a high drop-off without guard rails into an area that had a concession stand. The building was part of a new baseball field. To my left there was a long flight of stairs with a handrail attached to the concrete wall. Instead of walking down them like a normal person, I jumped up onto a ledge and walked down the handrail. I was testing how far I could balance on them before falling.

Symbols

Battleship:
To play the game Battleship in your dream, signifies the "hit or miss" approach you have to life. You need to be more tactical or deliberate in your decision making. Do not leave it to chance.

Foreigner:
To see a foreigner in your dream, represents an aspect of yourself that is unfamiliar or strange to you. You may be neglecting or ignoring some important feelings or talents.

Fighter Jet:
To see or dream that you are in a fighter jet, indicates that you are involved in some fast pace project. To see a jet flying overhead in your dream, signifies speed, pride or power.

Construction:
To see construction in your dream, signifies a new surge of energy, growth, ambition and renewed confidence. It may also represent the rebuilding of your own life. To dream that a building is under construction, suggests that you need to work on some aspect of yourself and better your mind or body.

Baseball:
To dream that you are on a baseball field, indicates that you need to pay attention to opportunities that are coming your way. To see a baseball field under construction, refers to unresolved sexual issues.

Railing:
To dream that you are holding on to a railing, suggests that you are desperately holding out for a chance to obtain the object of your affection.

Balance Beam:
To dream that you are walking on a balance beam, indicates that there is a situation that requires your focus and full attention. Alternatively, the dream may be a metaphor for the various aspects that you are trying to balance in your life.

INTERPRETATION:
Recently, my family and I laid to rest my Granddaddy Henry. He was a fighter in more ways than one. He served in WWII, fought at Normandy Beach, and lead a platoon. I didn't know him that well because of his condition, but I learned a lot about the kind of man he was at the funeral. He continued to fight after multiple injuries, he fixed a transmission in the middle of the night while his daughters slept in the car on the way to Florida, he never hesitated to help anyone he could, he was one of the hardest working men around.

It was kind of shocking to wake up and remember being on a Japanese battleship. It was as if to say, "you're the enemy. You're nothing like your granddad." It's as if my subconscious is saying that it knows every detail about me and is saying I should take a look at myself and know where I come from and who I'm not. And being in a foreign land with the enemy, could mean that I'm neglecting in myself the qualities that my granddad and I share.

My dream is also saying the I need to be more tactical in my decision-making. It's a quality that is overridden by intuition and empathy in my personality type. I need to learn other methods. The construction in the dream is pretty clear on the meaning. That my future is always under construction. I think my decision to balance down the handrail is a reflection of how non-conventional I am in so many ways.

Ultimately, this dream is a reminder of where I come from and maybe how to approach life. We buried my Granddad. We'll see him again someday. I need to lay to rest all of the aspects about me that I hate. And I hope I never see them again. I know that's what I'm doing. I'm pushing the selfishness away and getting out there. And releasing the past. I recently helped some friends paint their new house. I would have stayed longer if it hadn't been for plans that night. It didn't feel like work. I was happy to help. And if it weren't for all the physical pain I had today, I would have been there helping them move today. But... I bet Henry would have been there regardless of the pain.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-72817549737429340862010-11-23T16:25:00.007-06:002012-03-28T23:45:06.797-05:00LateI had a dream that I was outside of a Taco Bell with my cousin. It was dark outside. He walked in to get food while I stood outside the car. I got a phone call from my friend B, gloating about being at work before I was. I thought I was late. The clock on my car said 9:50. He said I wasn't late and that it was actually 7 something. I looked at my phone to confirm. He was right and I was relieved.

Symbols

Friend:
To see friends in your dream, signify aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself. Alternatively, dreaming of a friend, indicates positive news.

Late:
To dream that you are late, signifies your fear of change and your ambivalence about seizing an opportunity. You may feel unready, unworthy, or unsupported in your current circumstances. Additionally, you may be overwhelmed or conflicted with decisions about your future. Time is running out and you no longer have time to accomplish all the things you want. Alternatively, being late in your dream could be telling you that it is better late than never.

INTERPRETATION:
This dream to me represents my static spiritual state. How did I come up with that? Well it's about a quality that this friend has in my waking life. He represents devotion to his faith and is more spiritually mature than I feel I am. The fact that I thought I was late tells me that I have this fear that it's too late for me and that I'll always feel lost.. and have that guilt feeling you get when you're really late for work and you get chewed out by your boss. Me, weak in faith.

What I can't stand is the people that make it seem like it's all puppy dogs, rainbows and praise all the time. The ones that seem fake and delusional. What some fear to show or speak about is the intense struggle to stay on the right path. The constant fight inside just to simply have faith that everything will work out, that we can overcome ourselves, and be something meaningful. Red is one of my favorite bands because their music is so hard and real and they truly show the contrast of our Innocence and Instinct.

What gives me hope is reminders like the one in my dream.. That it's actually not too late. We just have to overcome our stubborn selves.

"Now and again we try to just stay alive.
Maybe we'll turn it around,
'cause it's not too late.
It's never too late..."

"Never Too Late"
Three Days Grace
One-X

It's funny... We went deep sea fishing on a large boat. On the ride back from the deep, I fell asleep on a bench on the boat. I dreamed I was watching a Parasailor- someone flying in the sky on a parachute attached to a moving boat. The dream didn't last long before I opened my eyes. On the boat, I could hear people talking about Parasailing. I sat up and looked around. I saw an actual boat with someone Parasailing!

I'm not sure what these kinds of dreams are called. They're not quite prophetic or precognition dreams. More like unconscious wiretapping into the conscious world and putting it together in images in the unconscious world. Pretty freaking cool. This has happened to me before. Our brainwaves speed up during REM sleep when we dream. So it's possible to feel like hours have gone by in a dream transposed from something you heard a few seconds or even a fraction of a second before awakening. I would love to hear about your experience with this kind of dream.

Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-72136306535675718052010-11-16T12:26:00.009-06:002010-11-17T17:35:06.200-06:00To New HeightsI was in a foreign country with a tropical climate. The natives there had me and another involved in some sort of initiation or rite of passage. I was to climb this big tree/rock/tower structure while balancing a stack of long, thin rocks on my head, held together with twine. So I carefully climbed this structure with one hand while the other held on to the string to keep the rocks secured tightly. I focused on keeping my head upright and the string tight so they wouldn't fall. I finally made it to the top platform of the tower.

I was congratulated by the natives and then they sang me their national anthem. The view was incredible from the top. This tower was on the beach and was facing west towards the ocean. The setting sun lit up the sky with oranges, pinks, and reds. On the beach, there was a carnival; and just beyond, a railroad went from north to south on the sand. At the top, I had my picture taken with my sisters and brother in law.

Symbols

Foreign Land:
To dream that you are in a foreign land, represents change in your life. Consider how you feel about the surrounding. If you are afraid or lost, then it indicates that you are not ready for the change. You are not willing to leave the past behind. If you are excited or happy in this unknown place, then it suggests that you are ready for change.

Initiation:
To dream of an initiation, indicates that you are pursuing a new path or goal. You are making a career change or getting a promotion.

Climbing:
To dream that you are climbing up something (ladder, rope, etc.), signifies that you are trying to or you have overcome a great struggle. It also suggests that your goals are finally within reach. Climbing also means that you have risen to a level of prominence within the social or economic sphere.

Balance:
To dream that you lose your balance, suggests that you are having difficulty weighing your options and choices in some situation.

Rocks:
To see a rock in your dream, symbolizes strength, permanence, stability and integrity, as conveyed in the common phrase "as solid as a rock". The dream may also indicate that you are making a commitment to a relationship or that you are contemplating some changes in your life that will lay the groundwork for a more solid foundation. Alternatively, a rock represents stubbornness, disharmony and unhappiness.

Rock Climbing:
To dream that you are rock climbing, symbolizes your struggle, determination and ambition. You are not any letting obstacles get in the way of your goal. Additionally, the dream indicates that you have an edge over others.

Tower:
To see a tower in your dream, signifies high hopes and aspirations. If you are looking down from a tower, then it indicates that you have a perceived superiority over others. Your ego is inflated.
To dream that you are climbing a tower, denotes your quest for spirituality and unconscious ideas that may be surfacing.

Celebration:
To dream of a celebration, represents your achievement toward a higher level of growth. This may also be a self-congratulatory dream for the goals you have achieved and for the recognition you have gained. You may also be honoring some victory, success, or accomplishment. Alternatively, to dream of a celebration, symbolizes freedom and emotional release. Celebration dreams are common for those who anticipate an upcoming turning point or event in their waking life.

Ocean:
To see an ocean in your dream, represents the state of your emotions and feelings. It is indicative of spiritual refreshment, tranquility and renewal. Alternatively, the dream means that you are feeling empowered and unhindered. You have a positive outlook in life and are not limited by anything. If you are sailing across the ocean, then it signifies new found freedom and independence. You are showing great courage. If the ocean is rough, then the dream represents some emotional turmoil. You are doing your best to handle life's ups and downs.

Railroad:
To see a railroad in your dream, indicates that you have laid out a set track toward achieving your goals. Your progress will be slow but steady. You are well disciplined and secure in your life. Alternatively, the dream indicates that you may be too linear and rigid in your thinking. Sometimes you need to go off track and explore other possibilities.

INTERPRETATION:
I found this dream pretty bizarre upon wakening but the interpretation is pretty simple and beautiful after reflection. I felt fairly confident in this foreign land and was ready for the initiation. The initiation and the climbing in the dream represents my struggle or undertaking of a new career path, a new future I'm writing for myself. The rocks simply represent a burden. The fact that I balanced them means I can handle whatever may come. That I can handle the balancing act of strength/stability vs. disharmony/stubbornness and still get to where I need to be.

I don't feel like I have a sense of superiority over others. Though what is worse: Feeling superior or inferior of others? Lack of confidence can be deadly and if I wasn't confident, I may have dropped the rocks or have fallen while climbing that tower. I felt a strong sense of community with the natives welcoming me into their land with their singing of their national anthem. And sharing this experience with my sisters and brother in law. Maybe it means I'll feel less alien in where I go. It's important to feel a part of something or a group of people but it's equally important to be yourself and be confident.

I'm not sure the significance of the railroad but what came to mind is the house being built upon sand parable.["But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." Mathew 7:26-27] If a railroad represents a slow and steady path towards achieving goals, does it mean the path may sink in the sand at some point and everything will come crashing down? That it's not stable? Well.. nothing's stable and my mind tends to explore possibilities. So I chose not to focus on failure when success and beauty were in front of my eyes.

It kind of reminded me of 'Submerged' in that it took place on a beach with the symbol of water, yet this time it was saying that I conquered the flood and the tower. It's quite a refreshing and reassuring dream. It truly was self-congratulatory. That success is within my reach. It's saying I should keep this confidence and move forward... and enjoy the view.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-79263339719715763992010-11-12T13:12:00.003-06:002010-11-12T13:23:20.922-06:00SubmergedAnother apocalyptic dream... This took place at the 'end' of the Earth. Most of the Earth was flooded. I was standing on an Egyptian structure on a new beach-front. It wasn't a pyramid. It was a beautiful sunny day but the oceans were rapidly rising and water was slowly making its way towards the structure and to drown the rest of the Earth. A few of us remained inside this alcove talking about what was happening. A man who seemed very wise knew what was going on. He said the whole Earth will drown and we would all die. Fear sunk in at the thought of inevitable death. I wasn't ready for this shit. I was afraid of dying. He said that the waters would stop rising once the angel's tomb was submerged. I stood there confused and looked to my right. Against the wall stood a sarcophagus. It was in the shape of an angel.. wings and everything. At this point the water was just below our feet. We grabbed the sarcophagus and threw it towards the water. It bounced off the concrete and opened up for a split second and then closed. The angel lay inside with his arms crossed. He was wearing arm bands. He was very tall and very muscular, like a warrior, unlike a stereotypical angel. He floated out into the water and then I woke up.

Symbols

Apocalypse:
To dream of the apocalypse, signifies an emotional and dramatic change taken place within. The dream may also indicate the end of one kind of lifestyle and the beginning of another.

Egypt:
To dream of Egypt, indicates the roots and core of your own emotions and spirituality. It suggests of a time in life where things may have been simpler.

Beach:
To see the beach in your dream, symbolizes the meeting between your two states of mind. The sand is symbolic of the rational and mental processes while the water signifies the irrational, unsteady, and emotional aspects of yourself. It is a place of transition between the physical/material and the spiritual.

To dream that you are on the beach and looking out toward the ocean, indicates unknown and major changes that are occurring in your life. Consider the state of the ocean, whether it is calm, pleasant, forbidding, etc.

Flood:
To dream that you are in a flood, represents your need to release some sexual desires. If the flood is raging, then it represents emotional issues and tensions. Your repressed emotions are overwhelming you. Consider where the flood is for clues as to where in your waking life is causing you stress and tension. Alternatively, the dream indicates that you are overwhelming others with your demands and strong opinion. Still another interpretation could be your desire to wipe everything clean and make a fresh new start. To see a gentle flood in your dream, indicates that your worries over a certain matter will soon be swept away.

Fear:
To dream that you feel fear, indicates that your achievements will not be as successful as you had anticipated. You are experiencing anxieties in various aspects of your life. The key to overcoming your fear is to discuss them and deal with them openly.

Tomb:
To see tombs in your dream, signify aspects of yourself which you have kept hidden and buried away.

Angels:
To see angels in your dream, symbolize goodness, purity, protection, comfort and consolation. Pay careful attention to the message that the angels are trying to convey. These messages serve as a guide toward greater fulfillment and happiness. Alternatively, it signifies an unusual disturbance in your soul. Angels may appear in your dream as a result of your wicked and mean-hearted activities.

Water:
To see water in your dream, symbolizes your unconscious and your emotional state of mind. Water is the living essence of the psyche and the flow of life energy. It is also symbolic of spirituality, knowledge, healing and refreshment. To dream that water is rising up in your house, suggests that you are becoming overwhelmed by your emotions.

INTERPRETATION:
The fear of the inevitable was the main theme in this dream. The fear I had was an indication that I'm not fully prepared for something in my waking life. I'm about to go back to school. I'm waiting to register for classes. I feel I'm prepared but there may be other things I'm repressing. Bad habits, unwise spending, etc. Even though the angel in my dream was dead, I believe he represented a sacrifice. That if I want to avoid the fear and feeling of being overwhelmed by the coming flood, I need to step up and make a few sacrifices. I totally agree with my subconscious. I've been having a lot of apocalyptic dreams lately, which means I'm on the brink of another big life change. And it's true. I am. And this dream ultimately is a reflection that I still have work to do if I am to survive the changes. The old, lazy me has to be killed off so I can become the strong individual I'm meant to be.

Further, the dead angel may represent my lost innocence and purity. But all hope is not lost. I have to forgive myself of the past and just.. let it go. Let the past sink in the rising waters so that when this change comes, I will stay afloat and not go down with it. The waters will wash away the old sins, pain, and negativity and I'll have a fresh start.

♫ Give away the stone..
Let the oceans take and transmutate this cold and fated anchor.
Give away the stone..
Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold.

Let go... ♫

"The Grudge"
Tool
LateralusOspreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-18110780495379549582010-10-31T00:33:00.007-05:002010-11-02T21:43:23.884-05:00Death ChamberI think this was set in a hospital. I'm not sure if I was working there or not. But I stumbled into a room of horror. It appeared to be a gas chamber, a killing room of some sort, kept secret at this place. People of all ages, races, etc. lined this room. The majority was old people. They were lined into rows spaced equally apart. Half of the room was gassed, while the others apathetically waited to be set on fire. I ran out of the room, shocked at what I had just seen. In the hallway, I ran into my friend Brian. I told him what was going on and we went in to save the first man we saw and to get answers. The man turned out to be a good friend of Brian's.

His skin was very stiff and he was covered in some kind of dried liquid. He acted as if he had been drugged or hypnotized. He thanked B and expressed happiness as he saw him but suddenly he became very scared. We were walking away. I stopped as I saw a man spray a liquid onto the man. He sprayed another liquid into a puddle on the ground. The man glared and walked away. Brian's friend turned around and started walking the other way. He walked across the puddle and instantly burst into flames. We started laughing and crying at the same time as if our brains were trying to protect us from the horror we had just witnessed. We couldn't save him.

Symbols

Hospital:
To see or dream that you are in a hospital, symbolizes your need to heal or improve your physical or mental health. Perhaps you are afraid of losing control of your body.

Gas Chamber:
To dream that you or someone is in a gas chamber, suggests that you need to get rid of something in your life that is causing you much sickness, distress, or negativity. It is causing you much harm to your well-being.

Elderly:
To see an elderly person in your dream, represents wisdom or spiritual power. Pay attention to the message or advice that the elderly person is conveying to you. He or she can help provide life answers and solutions to your problems and try to guide you toward the right direction.

Rescue:
To dream that you are being rescued or rescue others, represents an aspect of yourself that has been neglected or ignored. You are trying to find a way to express this neglected part of yourself. Alternatively, it symbolizes an unconscious cry for help. Perhaps you are too proud in your waking life to ask for assistance.

Burning:
To see something burning in your dream, indicates that you are experiencing some intense emotions and/or passionate sexual feelings. There is some situation or issue that you can no longer avoid and ignore. Alternatively, it may suggest that you need to take time off for yourself and relax. Perhaps you are you feeling "burned out" or "burned up". To dream that you or someone is being burned alive, suggests that you are being consumed by your own ambition.

Killer:
To see a killer in your dream, suggests that an essential aspect of your emotions have been cut off. You feel that you are losing your identity and your individuality. Alternatively, this dream may represent purification and the healing process. You are standing up for yourself and putting a dramatic end to something.

Murder:
To dream that you witness a murder, indicates deep-seated anger towards somebody. Consider how the victim represents aspects of yourself that you want to destroy or eliminate.

Cry:
To dream that you are crying, signifies a release of negative emotions that is more likely caused by some waking situation rather than the events of the dream itself. Your dream is a way to regain some emotional balance and to safely let out your fears and frustrations. In your daily lives, you tend to ignore, deny, or repress your feelings. But in your dream state, your defense mechanisms are no longer on guard and thus allow for the release of those feelings that you have repressed during the day.

INTERPRETATION:
I'm really sure how all of the symbols come together for an exact meaning in this dream.. But I think it has to do with a conversation Brian and I had the day before I had this dream. Not sure how we got into it but we started talking about stuff that bothered us from our past. I went to see a hockey game last week and someone was there that really gets under my skin. Someone I want to forget about. It's really hard to forgive and treat that person as if nothing had happened.. especially when the sight or thought of them brings back intense feelings of grief. I just wanna forget about it all. I have moved on but the thought of the past makes me cringe.

Brian said he'd pray for me. I didn't ask for it. And rescuing someone in the dream could be a reflection of my reluctance to ask for help when I need it, especially when the help I'm asking for reveals a deep weakness of mine. I could interpret this dream in a number of ways but I believe it boils down to spiritual warfare. And the people being drugged or hypnotized and killed shows a strong correlation to what "The Enemy" does. He lies and sets things up to have us chasing pipe dreams and mirages... to our very destruction. My hesitation to forgive is killing me. So I choose to ignore it and try to erase corrupted memories.

Another interpretation is that you can't always save everybody from themselves. People will choose to believe in the Matrix and to hide from the truth. And while Brian and I may disagree on whether hell is an actual place or what I believe, a final event where the effects of the burning are eternal and not the burning itself, fire is still involved and the dream could represent witnessing people destroy themselves.

I'm not sure.. I've been out of sync with my subconscious lately.

I need to save myself from another bad path I'm on. I've been having less and less energy lately. I'm trying to cut out energy drinks and caffeine because I've once again become too dependent on them. I'm a little burned out. I called out of work today because of a bad migraine, and I slept til 5pm. I needed this extra sleep. I need to get on a better sleep schedule and take the time to make breakfast in the mornings. I hate going to bed late, feeling like shit, drinking energy drinks, and repeating. It's bad for your health.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-59377777459186099132010-10-24T15:27:00.008-05:002010-10-24T17:17:48.334-05:00The Kid is AlrightIt was a sunny day on what looked like West End, Downtown Nashville. I was driving a scooter thing with a ridiculous looking windshield on it. I ran over a barricade thing and made my way to the grocery store. I jumped on my skateboard and rode down this really smooth, steep concrete ramp into the grocery store. It was like something straight out of a skatepark. In the store, loud hip-hop music was playing. I couldn't hear the lyrics but the beat went really well with my weaving in and out of people and shopping carts inside the store on the smooth, glossy concrete. I was looking for 2 or 3 items in the store. Milk was one of them. I skated past a kid and his mother. The kid looked really excited to see me skateboarding through the store. Another board materialized and the kid jumped on to learn how to skate. I got my milk and turned around and the kid was killing it! He learned how to skate in an instant it seemed. He was a natural.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrQtMBp0vBbXLpPb7w1VI7Ne6HADVh9UbeaqZN2MNkj1kR3dBOGdym2_HrCRNeQWWooS2mGP4pYZPifS4ExBcQpMeTLqzw8fORCvquR_jxLgswMSPOn0nisWJg-lS_qv0iVagWMLwWNItV/s400/Skate+%26+Shop.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531727112471634258" />

Outside behind the grocery store, I was sitting on a park bench eating something. A group of punks walk by me. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see them giving me mean looks. I ignored them. The kid and his mother were walking. The punks said something and made fun of the little kid. Sick of their foolishness and passive aggressiveness and making fun of that little shredder, I turned to them and made a scene. I hysterically started laughing and yelled in a way Adam Sandler would yell and make fun of someone: "Oh my God! That's so funny! AAHHAHAHAHA!! You're cool, man! So cool!" I continued to laugh and cause a scene. I was waiting for them to start something with me but they half smiled and laughed and seemed embarrassed. Mission accomplished.

Symbols

Scooter:
To see or ride a scooter in your dream, suggests that you are enjoying your position of power.

Market:
To dream that you are in a market, represents some emotional or physical need that you are currently lacking in your life. You may be in need of nurturance and some fulfillment. Consider the specific items that you are shopping for. Alternatively, the market signifies frugality.

Skateboard:
To see or ride a skateboard in your dream, indicates that you have the gift of making any difficult situation look easy. You carry yourself with style, grace and composure in the hardest of situations. Alternatively, the dream signifies your free and fun-loving side.

Milk:
To see milk in your dream, symbolizes maternal instincts and motherly love. It also denotes human kindness, wholesomeness, and compassion. Alternatively, the dream may be a metaphor that someone is "milking" you, either emotionally or financially.

Protection:
To dream that you are protecting someone or something, suggests that you are putting up an emotional wall or barrier between you and others around you. Consider who or what you are protecting for clues as to what aspect of your own self you are afraid of letting out and letting others know.

INTERPRETATION:
I don't really have any strong feelings towards this dream. I'm not sure what every symbol means to me in this one.

Skateboarding, searching for milk, the kid, and making fun of the punks were the things that stood out the most. I haven't skateboarded in a few weeks. And I am almost out of milk. Actually I need to go to the grocery store soon. I've been putting it off. But I think the dream goes deeper than just reminding me that I need to get groceries.

It's pretty clear that I was protecting the kid in this dream. And I had no fear in taking on that whole group of punks. But I'm not sure who or what the kid represents. What am I protecting in real life? Well.. the only thing popping into my little pea brain is family matters. My sister has been really hurt by a family member's actions and behavior and apparent lack of caring. It makes me angry. I'm protective of both of my sisters. The milk in the dream, according to dream moods, symbolizes maternal instincts and motherly love. Maybe I'm searching for a protective or nurturing figure myself. Cause it's definitely not coming from this particular family member at the moment.

On a more optimistic note, I don't have to repeat the same mistakes. I have a choice and I can be way better than they ever were. And perhaps my subconscious is telling me I can fight for those I love and be my own person. You always have a choice. The world's what you create.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-38434830111453874912010-10-21T00:05:00.009-05:002010-10-21T01:02:53.602-05:00Keep GrowingThis is my first recorded recurring dream. At least.. there are a lot of similarities. It is the same setting as the dream 'Grow Up,' taking place at Chuck E. Cheese's. But instead of my cousin being there with me, three of my best friends were there: Brittney, Cody and Isaac. I went over to the same machine as in the other dream. But this time.. instead of the machine being blocked by money, it was all clear; and I played it with the three remaining tokens I had. I timed the roll and released the token, launching it into a 20-point slot. A few tickets came out. The next roll was timed better, I hit the 80-point slot and a bunch of tickets came out.

With the last remaining token, I concentrated on the Jackpot slot spinning around. I was fairly confident I could hit it. The wheel came around at the point I was waiting on and I released the token. It hit the wheel, almost bouncing out. The token wavered and then made it into the slot. Jackpot! My friends and I celebrated as hundreds of tickets made their way out of the machine. WIN.

Jessica Monnich Photography

Symbols

Token:
To see or use a token in your dream, symbolizes your limited resources. Consider what the token is used for and what access it gives you.

Win:
To dream that you win at something, indicates that you will succeed in some task. You are experiencing new found confidence in your abilities. The dream may serve to offer you encouragement and motivation.

Jackpot:
To see or win a jackpot in your dream, suggests that you are too impulsive and relying too much on fate. Alternatively, the dream means that you need to take a chance in life in order to reap the rewards.

INTERPRETATION:
Recurring dreams are said to have a very important message that the dreamer needs to pay attention to. Most recurring dreams are nightmarish or frightening in content. It's strange that this one seems so positive.

I think it's a reminder. That prosperity is still within my reach as long as I keep my confidence. I was confident about hitting the Jackpot and I made it. As long as I keep my confidence on this new career path, I'll make it. No problem. Since this is a recurring dream, I wonder what else my subconscious could be telling me. Nothing is shouting out at me louder than the fact that I still have a lot of work to do. But I can handle it, and should stay confident. My friends being with me in the dream is a reflection of me wanting them by my side to share in my enthusiasm for life, no matter where our careers or our hearts lead us.

♫ And I want life in every word to the extent that it's absurd ♫Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-17170291500517533242010-10-18T01:17:00.004-05:002010-10-18T01:22:33.259-05:00Be RealThis dream, I walked up to a large glass box. The dream suggests that your strong values and good intentions will enable you to go forward in the world and bring you success. The dream dog may also represent someone in your life who exhibits these qualities. Alternatively, to see a dog in your dream, indicates a skill that you may have ignored or forgotten.

Gargoyle:
To see a gargoyle in your dream, signifies hidden and embarrassing fears over some secret matters that you have not shared with anyone.

Frozen:
To dream that something is frozen, represents something that has been suppressed, rejected, or denied. It could represent something this is not fully developed. Alternatively, the dream may refer to your emotions and cold or bitter feelings.

INTERPRETATION:
I think this dream has something to do with staying up til 3am talking with my sister who lives in Florida. She and her husband stayed over and we stayed up late talking about everything, but mostly family matters and things that were upsetting us. I've kept a few things hidden, things that still bother me that I no longer wish to talk about because it's embarrassing that such subjects still get to me every now and then. Hidden behind an invisible barrier around me.

Last night I did open up and let things out that have been bothering me. I think the dog represents my feelings and good qualities about me being frozen still. And walking up to the glass to look at the dog, it became real. It's like I need the verbal self-reflection so I can become real again. Self-reflection and realization are important. Another thing that keeps our tails wagging.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-82098371472456777152010-10-15T20:01:00.008-05:002010-10-16T20:19:55.958-05:00Excess BaggageI was at a Washington D.C. airport, thought it looked more like the O'Hare International Airport. It was very busy. I don't remember if I was arriving or waiting on a flight.

But I was there... Wearing a dog tag that I still have from long ago. A dog tag with jumbled up letters of an ex-girlfriend's name. It wasn't a mistake. That was her nickname. And I used to wear this dog tag all the freaking time. But it's been years since it's been around my neck. It was definitely the most powerful and emotion-evoking symbol. At the airport, I met up with a friend that I haven't seen or talked to since sophomore year of high school. It was strange running into him at the airport. The airport turned into a theater as I walked and I watched a performance. I barely remember that part but I remember the airport and that damn dog tag...

Symbols

Airport:
To see an airport in your dream, symbolizes birth (arrivals) and death (departures). If the airport is busy, then it signifies the desire for freedom, high ideals, ambition, and hopes. It is an indication that you are approaching a new departure in your life. Some new idea is taking off or is ready to take off. You may be experiencing a new relationship, new career path or new adventure.

Chain:

To see chains in your dream, signify your need to break free from a routine, old idea, or a relationship. If you are being chained, then some part of you is being forcefully put in check. You are being held back from what you really want to do.

Baggage:
To see or carry baggage in your dream, refers to the problems and things that you are carrying on your shoulders and weighing your down. You feel that you are being held back by past emotions or problems. Alternatively, baggage symbolizes your identity.

INTERPRETATION:

This dream is easy to interpret. I know exactly what it means. Unfortunately...

The Airport represents my life. And because I wasn't sure if I was departing or not, means that something is holding me back from taking off. I'm carrying excess baggage. I still have that dog tag. Though, I haven't worn it in years, I'm still wearing it metaphorically. It once was a love token, a gift I gave her when I returned from Florida. Now it's a burden.. with a weight as heavy as The One Ring that Frodo carried.

My friend from high school is just another symbol of 'the past' and that chain around my neck makes me feel like a prisoner to the past. I wanna break out.

I wanna break free.

I wanna be free from the past and the penalty..

of that time that hurt so deeply,

I wanna think better of myself and see

my true value and versatility.

I named this dream after a hidden track on Staind's Dysfunction album called "Excess Baggage" found near the end of the song Spleen. It's one of the most depressing songs I've ever heard. I won't post the lyrics but they hit home. I haven't heard that song in years.. and I'm not about to start listening to it again. I've got a lot of work to do to become whole. I'll do what I can but ultimately it's not in my hands.
Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-46377241235510285222010-10-14T00:40:00.005-05:002010-10-14T00:51:56.819-05:00That's What I ThinkI was at work walking down the hallway. My boss, his boss, the Dean and a couple others were walking the same direction. I ran in front of them and ripped a loud, nasty ass fart. I stopped walking. I'm sick of working there. I've felt very lazy at work lately and have lacked energy. I have to mask my true feelings because I would get fired if I said something like, "Nah fuck that. It was a big house somewhere that I don't wakingly recognize. The house was up for sale and I was eating breakfast. A beautiful girl and a couple of her family members came in as I was eating my cereal. While the real estate agent was talking to them, the girl stood beside me as I continued to eat my breakfast. Alternatively, your mind may already be thinking ahead on what to make for breakfast in the morning. It is not uncommon for your fleeting thoughts to be incorporated into your dream.

INTERPRETATION:
This dream was pretty fun. But the meaning is along the same lines as the "Frustrated" dream I had a few days ago. I already know this about myself. I acknowledge and am a bit embarrassed that I'm sick of being single. While one part of me thinks I'm just trying to 'play it cool' to get the girl in this dream, another part of me thinks that I should literally wait for the right girl to come to me while I begin something new for myself and that searching is pointless and even more frustrating. I acknowledge I am impatient and fear literally making out with any girl that stands beside me. Just kidding.. Nah.. I'm not that easy. I'm still very picky though and definitely impatient.

I must admit.. I'm a hopeless, incurable romantic. It's a basic need and desire built into all idealists. The need to have a partner. To feel loved, to have someone to love. Being single sucks and everyone that says 'enjoy the single life' are sick of being in shitty relationships and don't seem to know what loneliness feels like.Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7043344330164076893.post-42351103810313361812010-10-13T17:38:00.008-05:002010-10-14T00:32:57.484-05:00Raining PumpkinsJessica had a very odd dream that the world ended abruptly on Halloween.

"Samuel L Jackson was apart of [the] matrix and protected me, Matthias was laying on my bed watching tv, and Kayla and my dad were running around screaming."

"As I looked out my window everything looked like a perfect day, but then I walked outside and pumpkins were falling from the sky and turning it gray. I decided to wake up and re-cooperate. True story."

"Well I was really worried, but I pretended not to care what was going on, and I appreciated Samuel trying to protect me but I didn't believe he could. Also there was one part where I looked outside my window and everything looked perfect and safe but when I stepped up it was all screwed up. I have these weird dreams all time. Oh and Matthias didn't even care..haha he was watching T.V the whole time."

Me: What does the color gray mean to you? What does a gray sky remind you of?
Jessica: Gray to me feels neutral. Like...plain...simple. It reminds me of accepting depression and being neutral about it.

Symbols
Apocalypse:
To dream of the apocalypse, signifies an emotional and dramatic change taken place within. The dream may also indicate the end of one kind of lifestyle and the beginning of another.

Halloween:
To dream of Halloween, signifies death and the underworld. Halloween also represents the temporary adoption of a new persona where you feel less inhibited and more comfortable to freely express yourself.

Protection:
To dream that you are being protected or need protection, indicates that you are feeling helpless in some situation. Life's difficulties has made you dependable on others. You need to start taking charge of the situation.

Pumpkin:
To see a pumpkin in your dream, implies your openness and your receptiveness to new ideas and experiences. A pumpkin is also symbolic of female sexuality. Alternatively, the dream may relate to the popular fairy tale of Cinderella where a carriage turns back into a pumpkin. In this regard, a pumpkin may represent some situation in which time is running out.

Weather:
To dream about the weather, signifies your emotional state of mind. Stormy or windy weather implies conflict and aggression. Rain and hail represents depression and sadness. And rainbows and sunshine signify hope and happiness. Alternatively, weather may be a pun on "whether" you should do this or that. Perhaps you are trying to decide between two options.

Sky:
To look up at the clear blue sky in your dream, denotes hope, possibilities, creativity, peace and freedom of expression. As the saying goes "the sky's the limit." If the sky is cloudy and overcast, then it foretells of sadness and trouble.

To dream that the sky is falling, represents your fear of the unknown. You feel that your hopes and dreams have been shattered. Perhaps you have been too idealistic and the dream is an attempt to bring you back to reality.

To dream that something is falling out of the sky, signifies your pessimistic attitude. You are losing perspective on a situation. If the object is getting closer and casting a shadow on you, then it indicates that you are being ignorant about some situation. You need to get out from under the shadow and gain a different perspective on things.

INTERPRETATION:
Dreams like this can be overpowering and confusing. There are a lot of powerful symbols in this dream and a few familiar people, which helps figure out the meaning. Keep in mind that the best interpreter for a dream is the dreamer.

After reading what the symbols mean and the events and reactions of the dream, it sounds like you're going through some inner turmoil. You may be depressed about something or unsure of a decision to be made. An apocalypse scenario on Halloween is almost overkill, representing an ending to a habit, outlook, or attitude within and your desire to show the world a newer, better you.

Samuel L Jackson may be a man you consider strong and protecting, whom you may have seen recently, or are a fan of. Your unconscious needed a strong figure other than the people you depend on most- your boyfriend, Kayla, and your dad. While you depend on them for support, this dream may reflect some unconfronted fears of their possible reactions to whatever change or decision you are about to make. You fear your boyfriend won't care either way; that he will still be content with you. Alternatively you may fear him neglecting you afterwards. You may fear that Kayla and your dad will freak out and will not be as supportive as you want them to be. You needed Mr. Jackson in your dream because in real life you want to be sure there is someone who will always have your back. Alternatively, you're unsure of your support group's actions during a crisis.

Looking on the possibility of this change, you feel hopeful, but you fear the unknown or fear something going wrong. The meaning of gray to you makes me believe you are pessimistic about this change or decision and will fall right back into bad habits, attitude, or depression, staying neutral, and accepting it. Almost expecting things to go wrong. I suggest you be confident and have more faith in your decisions and expect the best. The world and those close will appreciate a better you.

I hope I'm close and that this helps. :)Ospreyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08205555780042346506noreply@blogger.com1
